Invasive testing

Invasive testing is necessary to properly investigate the extent of the damage to your home.  It includes:

  • drilling holes in walls (inside and outside) to take moisture meter readings
  • cutting A4-sized holes in walls (inside and outside)
  • taking samples of wood or mould from inside the wall.

The Department has produced a short DVD which outlines what happens when an assessor inspects your property and carries out invasive testing.

You can order a copy of the DVD by calling us on 0800 324 477.

The following photos show some examples of invasive testing.
