The landmark report on weathertightness
A 2002 report remains the blueprint for change across the industry. In February that year, a Weathertightness Overview Group was appointed to inquire into the weathertightness of buildings in New Zealand. Its report - commonly referred to as the Hunn Report into Weathertightness - identified a number of factors that have contributed to leaky buildings. It included 25 recommendations that aimed to address and remedy the systemic building industry failures that had led to the weathertightness crisis.
The report led to the formation of the Weathertight Homes Resolution Service and changes to the Building Act. It is available here as four individual files.
Report on the Building Industry Summit on Weathertightness November 2002
One Hunn Report recommendation was for a meeting of industry leaders on what actions on weathertightness were needed. That meeting was held on 11 October 2002.
