Keeping records

It is very important you keep all records and papers that relate to the tenancy. You should keep copies of:

  • the tenancy agreement
  • the property inspection report
  • rent records and receipts
  • water, power and phone bills
  • invoices for any work carried out at the property, such as maintenance or cleaning
  • copies of letters or emails sent to or received from the other party.

You should also keep contact details up to date and relay any changes to each other during the tenancy.
