Financial highlights

There are seven departmental output expenses delivered by the Department of Building and Housing.

2007/08 revenue forecasts:

  • $16.274 million from interest on the Residential Tenancies Trust Account
  • $0.800 million from fees for applications to the Tenancy Tribunal
  • $1.985 million from the implementation of the Building Act 2004
  • $0.001 million from fees to help Tenancy Tribunal judgement creditors to recover judgement debts
  • $6.876 million from occupational licensing fees and levies
  • $16.150 million from building levies
  • $0.395 million from contributions for the State Sector Retirement Savings Scheme
  • $26.543 million from the sale of outputs to the Crown.

We will spend $67.582 million on the production of outputs for the seven departmental output expenses detailed in the Statement of Forecast Service Performance.

We will also administer the following non-departmental expenditure and revenue in 2007/08.

  • Non-departmental output expenses payable to Housing New Zealand Corporation for policy advice of $2.509 million, contracted housing support services of $12.072 million, and housing support services of $13.913 million
  • Benefits and unrequited expenses for income-related rental subsidy paid to Housing New Zealand Corporation of $465.380 million
  • Benefits and unrequited expenses for housing assistance payments of $9.740 million
  • Non-departmental other expenses payable to Housing New Zealand Corporation for the community housing rent relief programme of $4.500 million
  • Non-departmental other expenses to recognise an increase of $1.807 million in provision for doubtful debts on income-related rental subsidy Crown debt
  • Interest receipts on loans to Housing New Zealand Corporation of $130.980 million
  • Dividend receipts from Housing New Zealand Corporation of $7.356 million
  • Capital injections to Housing New Zealand Corporation of $111.168 million
  • Housing New Zealand Corporation third-party debt refinancing of $131.187 million
  • Housing New Zealand Corporation Crown loans of $0.040 million
  • Housing New Zealand Limited Crown loans of $0.050 million
