Organisational structure
The Department is currently made up of the following business groups.
- Sector Policy, provides policy advice in support of a strong, well-performing building and housing sector capable of delivering quality homes and buildings.
- Service Delivery Branch, provides integrated service delivery and efficient and effective dispute-resolution systems for the building and housing sector.
- Building Quality Branch, provides authoritative standards, guidance and technical advice that enables the delivery of homes and buildings that perform well in the New Zealand environment and contribute to sustainability.
- Sector Capability Branch, leads the design and delivery of systems to encourage and support a strong, well-performing building and housing sector and ensure those participating in it are delivering buildings and homes that perform well.
- Corporate, delivers organisational systems that enable top-quality professional corporate advice and business support for the Department.
- Organisational Development and Strategy, supports the building of an integrated organisation that has a clearly defined organisational strategy and plan, plus the capability to deliver on it.

Office locations
Our people are spread across the Wellington-based national office, Porirua-based Contact Centre, and regional offices throughout the country from Invercargill to Whangarei.
