How to apply and application form

There are several ways that you can apply for a MultiProof. You can:
When completing your application, you should ensure that all questions are answered and all the necessary supporting information is provided. This will avoid delays in processing your application and enable it to move more quickly to the assessment phase.
How much customisation is allowed in each design?
When applying for a MultiProof, it is important to include in your application all the customisations to your basic building design that you may wish to make in each individual build. In deciding which customisations to lodge, you should be guided by modifications to your standard plans and specifications that your customers normally request.
All applications must comply with the New Zealand Building Code. This means that applications must be accompanied by relevant technical information to establish that the building, once built, will comply with the Building Code.
The Department will consider each of the desired customisations at the same time as the original design or initial assessment, and as part of the overall approval process for that design.
The Department is unable to approve customisations that have not been included on the application form or that are not supported by sufficient technical information.
Renewal of a National Multiple-Use Approval
Your MultiProof will be conditional on being reviewed by the Department after two years. You will need to submit it to the Department for review at the expiry of this period. This will allow for a renewed approval certificate to be issued.
If there are any changes to the design, the Department will charge its standard MultiProof processing fees to assess the Building Code compliance.
Changes to Building Code
If the Building Code changes in a way that materially affects the compliance of your design, the Department will write to you indicating the nature of the changes and requesting, if necessary, that you lodge a new application for your MultiProof that takes account of the Building Code changes.
If you do not submit a new application reflecting the changes to the Building Code, the Department may suspend or revoke your existing MultiProof. If the Department gives notice that it will suspend or revoke your approval solely because of a change to the Building Code, you will have three months from the date the change to the Building Code comes into force before the suspension or revocation takes effect.
If you change your design to meet the changes to the Building Code, your application will be treated as a new application and will be subject to the same processes and procedures as any new MultiProof application. However, the Department would expect to undertake a shorter assessment process based on prior familiarity with your design.
