Builders breakfasts focus on licensing
Following similar successful events last year, several leading building suppliers have joined forces with the Department of Building and Housing to host a series of free builders’ breakfast sessions over the next couple of months.
Carters, ITM, PlaceMakers and Mitre 10 are all hosting events to help those in the building industry find out more about the new Licensed Building Practitioner scheme, which starts on 1 November this year.
Some of these sessions will be addressed by the Minister for Building and Construction, the Hon. Clayton Cosgrove, and staff from the Department’s Occupational Licensing team will be present at all events to provide an update on the scheme’s progress and to answer your questions.
The planned events are listed below. If you are interested in attending, please phone the relevant contact number for time and venue details and so the organisers know how many people to cater for.
Note: many of these breakfasts will be held in an off-site venue.

Designers' briefings focus on licensing
With occupational licensing in the building sector fast approaching, briefings are being organised around the country for architectural designers. These are running in parallel with equivalent events for builders.
Local councils are hosting the designers’ events. At each gathering a briefing is being provided explaining the Licensed Building Practitioner Scheme and its implications for designers. Questions are then being taken.
The planned events are listed below. If you wish to attend, please phone the relevant contact number for time and venue details and so the organisers know how many people will be attending.
