BC Update: No.52 - Building for the 21st Century: Review of the Building Code - Release of synopsis report

31 January 2007: The Department has released a synopsis of submissions on the discussion document Building for the 21st Century: Review of the Building Code. The synopsis summarises the themes identified by submitters about the future of the Building Code and has provided invaluable feedback for ensuring the review’s success.

The Department received 265 submissions from individuals, community organisations and industry professionals and wishes to thank all submitters for their input and feedback.

The submissions will help guide the direction for a second discussion document, which is expected to be available for public comment in the first half of 2007. This document will seek comment on detailed performance criteria for the Building Code.

The entire Building Code review is scheduled for completion by November 2007 and changes are projected to take effect from 2008.
